Marangu Hospital and the Rotary Club of Marangu-Kibo have a strong partnership, working together on various community projects, particularly in healthcare. They collaborate on initiatives like strengthening home-based care for patients and promoting sexual and reproductive health education in schools.

Slit lamp machines was received as a donation from Germany in 2023,The joint aim of the University Hospital Bonn (UKB) and Marangu Lutheran Hospital is to improve oncological care in Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro region. Context: Identifying clinical symptoms and conducting reliable staging is extremely relevant when starting cancer treatment. Using ultrasound as a diagnostic tool helps perform a reliable assessment. At present, approximately 80% of cancer cases in the Kilimanjaro region are not diagnosed until the cancer is at an advanced stage.

We’ve streamlined patient pathways with a robust e-referral system integrated into our electronic health records, reducing delays and improving coordination  . Additionally, ongoing partnerships support regular capacity-building workshops for our clinicians, ensuring they stay current with cutting-edge protocols and best practices.
